Role types
A role type is a part a counterparty plays — a borrower, a guarantor, a signatory. Your organisation decides what the list holds. Adding a new role is something you do on this screen, not something that waits for a release.
A role is a plain tag. It carries no fields of its own — it simply marks what a counterparty does.
What a role type carries

| Label | What people read on screen. Rename it whenever the wording should change. |
| Active | Whether the role is offered when someone assigns a role. |
Adding a role type
- Go to Settings, then Role Types.
- Select New Role Type.
- Enter a Name, such as
Guarantor. - Enter a Label, such as “Guarantor”.
- Select Create.
The new role is offered straight away wherever a role is assigned, unless a counterparty type limits which roles it may hold. See counterparty types for that limit.
Staging and publishing
Editing or removing a role is staged, not live. The change sits in a draft until you submit it from the bar at the top of the screen. Adding a new role takes effect at once.
Retiring a role type
Deactivate is the everyday choice. Clear Active on the role. It disappears from the assign screen, so nobody assigns it again. Counterparties already holding it keep it.
Remove deletes the role. It is refused while a counterparty type lists it in its allowed roles. Clear it from those types first, or deactivate instead.
What your organisation configures
Everything on this screen. The platform ships no role types of its own — the list you see is the one your organisation set up, and you can add to it at any time.
