Security types
A security type is a kind of cover you take against lending — the pledge that ties a piece of collateral to a loan. Your organisation decides what the list holds.
The type sets how much of the asset’s value you may advance against.
What a security type carries
| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| Name | The stable identity everything else refers to. Fixed once you create it. |
| Label | What people read on screen. Rename it whenever the wording should change. |
| Default advance rate | The share of value you advance by default, as a fraction. |
| Max advance rate | The most you may advance. Optional — leave blank for no cap. |
| Active | Whether the type is offered when someone proposes a security. |
The advance rates are fractions: 0.8 means 80%. A default of 0.8 with a max of 0.9 advances 80% of value unless someone raises it, and never more than 90%.
Adding a security type
- Go to Settings, then Security Types.
- Select New Security Type.
- Enter a Name, such as
Vehicle. - Enter a Label, such as “Vehicle Finance”.
- Enter the Default advance rate, and a Max advance rate if you want a cap.
- Select Create.
The property schema
Open a type to see its Property Types — fields you capture on every security of that type. Add, edit and remove them on that panel. A property’s Kind is fixed once it exists; its label and whether it is required you can change.
Staging and publishing
Editing a type, adding a property, or deactivating one is staged. The change sits in a draft until you submit it from the bar at the top of the screen.
Retiring a security type
Deactivate is the everyday choice. Clear Active on the type. It disappears from the propose-security screen, so nobody proposes a new one of it. Securities already in place keep working.
Remove deletes the type, for one created by mistake.
